Genus notes

Inornata Species Group Species belonging to the inornata species group are characterized by a light-brown ground colour on the head, prothorax, synthorax, and abdomen, often accompanied by turquoise or yellowish-white markings. Blue and purple markings are absent. The mid-dorsal carina of the synthorax is consistently marked by a narrow black line. Males possess a ligula with terminal lobes that vary in shape and may be strongly reduced or completely absent. This group includes species with a generally more subdued colour pattern compared to members of the bidentata species group. Bidentata Species Group Species of the bidentata species group have a medium-brown to black ground colour, frequently combined with blue, purple, turquoise, or yellowish-white markings. The mid-dorsal carina of the synthorax is covered by a broad black stripe, varying from approximately twice the width of the carina to as wide as the antehumeral stripe. The male ligula bears conspicuous, well-developed subrectangular terminal lobes. Members of this group are generally darker and more vividly coloured than those of the inornata species group.
