Two suborders, many ecological stories.
The order Odonata is divided into Zygoptera and Anisoptera. Both share aquatic juvenile stages, but differ strongly in body form, eye placement, resting posture, and flight behavior. Those differences provide the entry point for exploring Indonesia's odonate diversity in a structured, scientifically traceable way.

Damselflies
Zygoptera
Slender-bodied odonates with separated compound eyes and wings usually held closed or partly closed above the abdomen at rest.

Dragonflies
Anisoptera
Robust-bodied odonates with large compound eyes and wings typically spread horizontally when resting.
