Diagnosis
Male : Idiocnemis fissidens is a member of the inornata-group, easily recognized by the structure of the male superior anal appendages. The male has small dark postocellar spots that do not touch the eye margin, distinct pronotal tubercles, and a nearly rectangular posterior pronotal lobe. The synthoracic colour pattern is poorly preserved in the type, but remnants of turquoise markings are present. The inferior appendages are only about half as long as the superior appendages. The superior appendage bears a finger-shaped inner subdistal process, positioned close to the tip and partly directed ventrally; this character separates it from I. strumidens and other related species.
Female : The female lacks a turquoise frontal stripe and has small dark postocellar spots that do not touch the eye margin. The median lobe of the pronotum has deep round pits with black markings, while the posterior pronotal lobe is rectangular and somewhat roof-shaped. The synthoracic markings are reduced, and the abdomen has yellow basal and subdistal markings on segments 3–6, with dark distal rings. The valvae extend beyond segment 10 for about the length of that segment.

Locality
Distribution
Known only from Waigeo Island, West Papua. The type series was collected at Camp Nok, around 760 m a.s.l.
Ecology
Habitat
Gassmann does not provide a specific habitat description for this species. Based on its known locality and elevation, it is likely associated with forest streams or shaded montane creek habitats on Waigeo Island, but this should be treated as an inference rather than confirmed habitat data.
