Drepanosticta sembilanensis

Diagnosis

Male : A large and robust Drepanosticta with a predominantly castaneous-brown colour pattern. Head with yellowish labrum, mandibles, and anteclypeus; the anterior margin of the labrum and mandibles narrowly brownish black. The rest of the head is brownish black, with more extensive pale markings near the median ocellus, transverse occipital carina, and lateral extremities. Antennae brownish black with a brown pedicellus. The prothorax is brown; the anterior lobe and median part are flattened, while the sides are paler. The posterior lobe bears a pair of very short processes that are stout and flattened, with broad bases and sharply tapering tips. The synthorax is dark brown, but the lower half is more castaneous, without antehumeral stripes. Legs are dirty yellow, with darker rings at the joints. Wings are hyaline with brown venation and brown pterostigma. The abdomen is castaneous-brown, with segments 8–10 brownish black. Segments 3–7 have pale markings, including triangular markings on segment 3 and smaller markings on segments 4–6. Male anal appendages are distinctive: the superior appendages are elongated and club-shaped, without denticles or spines, while the inferior appendages are slender, nearly straight, and strongly bent inward. Female : Unknown.
