Diagnosis
Male : A medium-sized Drepanosticta with a general brownish-black colour pattern. Head with black labium; labrum bluish white with the anterior one-fifth black. Anteclypeus and mandibles bluish white, while the postclypeus and anterior frons are mostly iridescent. The remainder of the head is black, with a well-developed transverse occipital carina and angular lateral extremities. Antennae mostly black with pale scape and pedicel.
The prothorax is brown with dirty yellow propleura. The posterior lobe bears paired processes that are widely separated, narrow but longer than wide, slightly bifid, and with a distally widening margin. Synthorax dark brown to black, with reduced pale markings; mesepimeron and metepimeron mostly brownish yellow. Legs dirty yellow with darker markings. Wings hyaline with brownish venation and dark brown pterostigma.
The abdomen is mainly blackish brown. Segments 3–7 possess pale basal markings, while segments 8–10 are darker. Male anal appendages are diagnostic: the superior appendages are brownish grey, approximately half as long as the tenth segment, with a subtriangular tooth directed anteromedially; inferior appendages are yellowish, strongly curved inward and then dorsally, with bluntly pointed tips.
Female : Similar to the male, but the thorax is more extensively pale brown. The posterior lobe of the pronotum lacks processes. Abdomen similar to the male, with valves, terebra, and stylus brownish black. Female anal appendages are dull yellowish grey.

Locality
Distribution
Endemic to Halmahera Island, North Maluku, Indonesia. Known from central Halmahera, including the Labi Labi area and surrounding localities.
Ecology
Habitat
Found along small (<5 m wide), heavily shaded, shallow streams and seepages in lowland rainforest. Individuals perch very low on vegetation, leaves, and roots, usually less than 10 cm above the ground or water surface. The species has not been recorded from large streams or open sunny habitats.
Remarks
Notes
Closely related to Drepanosticta rudicula from northern Halmahera. It differs by the structure of the posterior pronotal processes, which are extremely short and somewhat bilobed (longer and wider in D. rudicula), and by the absence of pronotal processes in females.
The species name pararudicula refers to its close similarity to D. rudicula.
