Drepanosticta bifida

Diagnosis

Male : A rather small, castaneous-brown Drepanosticta with distinctive bifurcated processes on the posterior lobe of the prothorax. Head with bluish-white labrum, anteclypeus, and mandibles; the remaining parts mostly brownish black. The posterior pronotal processes project backwards, are appressed together, and each is divided distally into dorsal and ventral branches. Synthorax brown with darker and paler markings. Abdomen mostly brown, with segments 8–10 brownish black and pale markings on segments 3–7. The superior anal appendages are strongly curved downward and bear a small sharp inner tubercle; the inferior appendages are slender and curved inward. Female : Similar to the male but with shorter posterior pronotal processes, forming a short triangular knob rather than the elongate bifurcated structure of the male. Abdominal segments 8–10 are brownish black; valves and terminal appendages are brown.
