Palaiargia myzomela

Diagnosis

Male : Unknown Female : A robust Palaiargia known only from the female. The body is predominantly black, with limited orange-red to dark brown markings. The head is mostly dull black and lacks pale postocular spots. The prothorax is distinctive, with well-developed pronotal tubercles and a very large, strongly elevated posterior lobe. The synthorax is mostly black, with reduced orange-red markings, including small antehumeral remnants and a small lateral patch. The abdomen is long and rather robust, black, with pale greenish-yellow markings on the basal segments. The wings are hyaline.

Distribution

Known from Central New Guinea, specifically the Wissel Lakes area, Kamu Valley, Ituda, at about 1500 m a.s.l.
